Normally, no one goes on LinkedIn to hide. You want to make connections, be noticed by recruiters, potential employers etc. However, we’ve all been in those uncomfortable situations where we inadvertently ended up viewing someone’s profile more than we should or we just would prefer for this particular person not to know that we viewed their profile. Right? Normally, no one goes on LinkedIn to hide. You want to make connections, be noticed by recruiters, potential employers etc. However, we’ve all been in those uncomfortable situations where we inadvertently ended up viewing someone’s LinkedIn profile more than we should or we just would prefer for this particular person not to know that we viewed their profile. Right?
Well, I just found out how to view profiles incognito (even if you are not using LinkedIn Premium) and I wish to share that information with you.
It’s pretty simple and here’s how to do it.
ON A LAPTOP
1- Go to your LinkedIn profile. Not your feed, please. Your profile itself, where you can edit things.
2- Click on the ME option (the small circle with your picture in it). You should see a drop-down menu. Select SETTINGS AND PRIVACY.
3- Scroll down to HOW OTHERS SEE YOUR LinkedIn ACTIVITY. Select PROFILE VIEWING OPTIONS (choose whether you’re visible or viewing in private mode)
4-Click on change and select one of the 3 options available. The third and last one is PRIVATE MODE. Choose that.
There you go!
ON YOUR PHONE
1-Open the LinkedIn app and click on your profile icon (the little circle with your picture in it)
2- Select SETTINGS, then PRIVACY
3- Scroll down and select PROFILE VIEWING OPTIONS. It’s the third one.
4-Select PRIVATE PROFILE CHARACTERISTICS (second option) or PRIVATE MODE (third option)
There you go. You can now view that potential employer/recruiter/crush’s profile ten times in a day without them knowing that it’s you🤣.
However, bear in mind that as the warning at the bottom of the page says, SELECTING ANY OF THOSE TWO MODES WILL MEAN THAT YOU CAN’T SEE WHO VIEWED YOUR PROFILE EITHER AND YOUR VIEWERS’ HISTORY WILL ALSO BE DELETED 😅. It’s like on WhatsApp. If you keep your blue ticks and last seen off, you can’t see people’s own either.
